Hollywood star Steve McQueen was just 50 years old when he tragically died after a battle with asbestos cancer, and now his son, actor Chad McQueen, has sadly passed away
The Karate Kid star, and son of Steve McQueen, has died at the age of 63 due to organ failure, it has been announced today. The devastating news was confirmed by his long-term lawyer, Arthur Barens, who revealed that Chad died at his ranch in Palm Desert, California, with him and his close family by his side.
Steve, whose real name was Terrence Stephen McQueen, was at the top of his game in the seventies, featuring in The Great Escape, The Towering Inferno and The Cincinnati Kid. But heartbreakingly, he developed a persistent cough at the age of 48. By February 1980, there was evidence that the cancer had spread throughout his body. He decided to keep his illness a secret, but a month later, the National Enquirer published a story that he had terminal cancer.
It's thought that Steve paid for his treatments in cash, handing over $40,000 per month. He stayed in Mexico having treatments for three months. As he returned to the US, Kelley publicly announced that the actor would be completely cured, but sadly that wasn't the case at all.
