The Leicester City winger is in the process of declaring for the Republic of Ireland

But Stephen Kenny is still confident the Leicester City winger will soon become available to the Boys in Green - even if he’s unlikely to be his manager.

Kenny went to see the English-born ace in action two weeks before that Gibraltar clash, but he came off injured against Blackburn Rovers, shortly after coming on as a sub. Kenny said: “There’s still a bit of paperwork we need on Kasey to get over the line but he’s been out over a month with a hamstring injury.

His contract expires at the end of the Euro 2024 qualifying campaign and the New Zealand friendly on Tuesday week is widely expected to be his final game at the helm. Winning is a habit and for all the fresh blood in the side, those players have been unable to win the games that matter.Kenny was asked if the FAI will have to show patience to the next Ireland boss, whoever succeeds him.
