The UEFA Champions League is back, and Kate Abdo will be raring to get back to presenting the top-tier footballing tournament - bringing fans all of the action live and direct on CBS sports
Kate Abdo will be raring to go as the Champions League makes its long-awaited return after an action packed summer.
Humble beginnings While she's best known for her work in the United States of America, Abdo was born and bred in Manchester. She studied at the Christ the King School and Withington Girls' School before moving to Spain at the age of 17 while learning the language and taking her high school diploma. Rising in the world of journalism Abdo's first big break in the world of journalism came in the form of an internship in Germany with international news network Deutsche Welle in 2005, before becoming a production assistant for Goal! The Bundesliga Magazine between 2006 and 2007. She stayed on as a news presenter with Deutsche Welle until 2009, hosting sports coverage for their English and German services.
A spat with Jamie Carragher Abdo famously had a one-air spat with Carragher while working on CBS Sports' coverage of Arsenal vs Porto in March this year. Richards shocked fans worldwide by donning an Arsenal jersey during the coverage, before Carragher put it on. He then turned to Abdo and said: "For the last part, you've got to wear it," to which the die-hard Manchester United fan said: "No, I'm loyal. I'm loyal.
Abdo had her revenge on Carra the very next night while introducing Champions League coverage alongside the Scouser, Henry and Richards for Atletico Madrid's match against Borussia Dortmund. Kicking off the show, she said: "This group, we've been together now for three-and-a-half-years is it? And I grew up with a brother and doing this show I feel like I've gained three more here.
In conversation with Genting Casino about his wife’s beautiful gesture, Scott shared: "Kate did something incredibly creative, caring and compassionate, reflecting the walk of life I come from. She took an old picture of my first ABC Gym in North Philadelphia, where I was raised, the gym that essentially saved my life.
