The Princess of Wales visited HMP High Down in Surrey to learn more about how The Forward Trust is helping those in the criminal justice system.
Kate Middleton made a surprise visit to HMP High Down in Surrey where she spoke with inmates about their addiction issues.
Kate sported a vibrant blue McQueen suit, a necklace with the initials G, C and L and had two fingers on her right hand taped together after reportedly sustaining a hand injury at home whilst trampolining with Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. The 41-year-old was then asked to sit with her hands on her knees whilst a black Labrador called Penny - one of a team of dogs who screen 2,000 visitors entering the prison each month - checked her for drugs.
Kate replied: "My own fault. I was jumping around on the trampoline." Gesturing to the strapping she added: "I did put it on just to keep it safe." The prison includes a children's play area to make kids visiting loved ones more comfortable and the experience less daunting.Speaking to kitchen staff who are also current inmates, Kate said: "Well done. It smells delicious."
Speaking afterwards, he said: "It is very honourable of her to want to come and step into this environment. What I've learned is that your family have to recover from your addition, too, because your addiction affects the whole family. It’s not just about the addict."She then became a patron of the Forward Trust since 2021 when the charities merged.
