The broadcaster initially wasn't sure if she wanted to take on her own morning radio show because of how it would affect her daily routine with her two daughters
Kathryn Thomas has revealed she was hesitant to host a morning show on Q102 because of how it would affect her family routine.
The broadcaster didn't want to miss out on that "magic" time with her kids, but also knew she shouldn't turn down such a great opportunity. Speaking to Life Magazine, Kathryn added: “When this opportunity came up, it took me a long time to get my head around it. The biggest thing for me was, like, ‘We live in Dublin 8 and I walk the girls to school every day and that seven o’clock to quarter past nine time is magic.’ Now, you know, it’s also f**king chaos and of course I’m looking at it now through rose-tinted glasses — us skipping through the park — whereas in fact it’s someone’s lost a shoe, someone’s killing someone else.
“I’m just like, it is what it is. I’m an open book and I always have been," she said, of speaking about the difficulties of balancing work and family. "Since I was 20 on No Frontiers and being asked, ‘How do you cope when you’re travelling and you’re away so much?’ And then, having babies in your 40s and struggling to have a family. I’m just an open book and this is how it is.”
