She will be at the helm of a new show

The national broadcaster confirmed Katie will fill the 10.30pm vacancy from January with a new current affairs programme, titled Upfront with Katie Hannon.

Sadly, Katie’s big move to television means she will no longer be hosting her regular RTE Radio 1 shows Late Debate and Saturday with Katie Hannon - however you will still catch her filling in for Joe Duffy’s Liveline from time to time.Stepping in for Katie on the political radio programmes from this December is a relatively unknown broadcaster from the station, Colm Ó Mongáin.

Currently Deputy Foreign Editor of RTÉ News, Colm will present Late Debate and Saturday with Colm Ó Mongáin. Colm is also the producer and co-host of RTÉ's Brexit Republic podcast, and produced and presented the Pandemic podcast, a daily half-hour podcast on the Covid-19 crisis.Colm has been a journalist with RTÉ News since 2006 and has reported from Israel, the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Mali, Ethiopia and from around Europe. He previously worked for TV3 and Newstalk.
