Caoimhin Kelleher expresses his desire to win every trophy this season with Liverpool, amid reports of renewed transfer interest from Chelsea, Newcastle, and Bournemouth.
Caoimhin Kelleher has declared his ambition to conquer every trophy this season with Liverpool , amid renewed transfer speculation linking him away from the club. Chelsea , Newcastle United , and Bournemouth are reportedly poised to revive their interest in the Irish goalkeeper when the transfer window swings open at the season's conclusion.
Should Kelleher depart in the summer, possibly coinciding with Giorgi Mamardashvili's long-awaited arrival from Valencia, he could depart on a high note if his lofty trophy aspirations are realized. The Reds are strong contenders to clinch the Premier League title, boasting a six-point lead and a game in hand over second-placed Arsenal. They've secured their place in the Carabao Cup final against Newcastle. In the Champions League, they've progressed to the last 16, where they'll face either Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Monaco, or Brest. And on Sunday, they aim to advance further in the FA Cup, taking on Plymouth Argyle in the fourth round. Kelleher is set for his 17th start of the season, with manager Arne Slot likely to include the Corkman in his lineup for the Plymouth encounter. Speaking to the official Liverpool website ahead of the game, Kelleher outlined his goals for the remainder of the campaign and his relentless hunger to add to his collection of winners' medals. 'In the last few seasons, we've obviously reached some finals. I think it's just the mentality within the whole group that's always spot on,' he said. 'We want to win every game we're involved in, and I think that's kind of the mentality – game by game. 'Obviously, we're a difficult team to beat in cup competitions. We want to win every competition we're in. It's that mentality to go out and win every game. 'We're happy with the League Cup now we're in the final. That's a few weeks away now, so that'll be on the backburner. Focus will go towards the cup and the league as well. 'We have important games in both, all focus will be on that, we won't take anything for granted and we want to get more trophies than just the League Cup.' Kelleher acknowledges the threat Plymouth, despite their position at the bottom of the Championship, could pose to Liverpool's FA Cup ambitions. Having overcome Brentford in the third round, Kelleher acknowledged: 'I think obviously it's going to be difficult. It's obviously a massive game for them, us coming there is going to be huge. 'They're going to be ready. The fans are going to be ready for us. It's going to be a tough game. We want to go there and get a win, and we need to be ready for a tough game as well. 'Maybe they're not having the best season, but that kind of goes out of the window in a cup tie. They might see it as a chance to ignite their season and get something going, especially with us coming into town. 'It's going to be a massive day for them. We know they'll be well up for it.
