Ken Doherty has been forced to undergo an emergency hernia operation after the former snooker world champion was left in 'unbearable pain' near his belly button
Dublin's own snooker ace Ken Doherty was swiftly taken to hospital for an urgent hernia operation after experiencing severe pain around his belly button earlier this week which escalated to the point where surgery became necessary.
"I was in agony, the pain was unreal," shared Doherty with the Irish Mirror. It's going to take me a few weeks to recover.
At 55, Doherty was preparing to take on Scotland's Ross Muir in the opening round of qualifying for the Scottish Open scheduled for next Monday. Also, Doherty, who triumphed at the Crucible in 1997, finds himself having to shelve any further planned engagements as he aims to return to form.
