Kendra Scott may have launched her eponymous jewelry empire from Austin, but her first stop Thursday while touring to promote her new memoir was in Houston. That's because her story began here.

In tow, as always, was her beloved English Sheepdog, Duke, who greeted fans with equal enthusiasm."Duke goes everywhere I go," Scott said.

Much like her jewelry line, which began in the spare bedroom of her Austin home, Scott's autobiography had a modest start. She began journaling in 2020 as a way of coping with the stress of the pandemic. "If I could be vulnerable, there's so much power in it that," she added."I hope others could feel like they can be their authentic selves. Successes and failures are what make you so unique and beautiful."

Scott also hates typing, so much so that she almost abandoned the idea of writing altogether. Still, she found a way to tell her story.Instead of typing, Scott wrote the book orally, speaking into a dictation app. As a result, she said, her book reads like a conversation piece.
