Mum-of-five, Kerry Katona, has weighed in on the debate over whether babies should have their ears pierced after comedian, Lucy Beaumont, said it should be illegal
Kerry Katona has slammed comic, Lucy Beaumont, for demanding it should be illegal to pierce a baby's ears.
In response to the post, Kerry, 43, who has five kids, has spoken out about her own experience getting her ears pierced as a child, quipping Lucy's rage was "quite ridiculous".In her weekly column for OK! magazine, she said: "Comedian Lucy Beaumont has said that piercing a baby’s ears should be illegal, which I think is quite ridiculous. Most kids get it done at some point and at least when they’re young it won’t hurt – it makes it easier.
After Lucy's post, many on X flocked to her defence, saying they agreed it was cruel to put a baby through 'unnecessary pain'. “I remember seeing a two year old in there, sobbing and begging them not to do the other ear. Staff member and her aunt wouldn’t back down, and told her she’d get a toy when it was done. It was a few years ago now but I’ve never forgotten it and regret not intervening,” wrote one.
However, others have argued in defence of piercing at a young age - with one hitting back to argue: “Babies scream when they have their jabs and get over it pretty quickly. I’ve had my ears pierced since I was a baby and I’m absolutely fine, no PTSD, nothing."
