The Kerry GAA player has made waves ever since his intercounty football debut back in 2018 and has easily become one of the most well-known players in the countryDavid was born in Tralee, County Kerry, in 1999, making him 27.
He isn't the only GAA star in his family as David plays for Kerry alongside his brother Paudie. Both of them line-out in the forwards and they have enjoyed both club and county wins playing side by side. He first studied in Institute of Technology, Tralee where h graduated with a degree in health and leisure before completing a Masters in PE teaching at the University of Limerick.
David is loved up with his long-term partner Shauna, who he met in his teens, and the pair welcomed their first child in 2021. Oigi arrived into the world just days after Kerry lost to Tyrone in the All-Ireland semi-final that year. Oigi is already a firm GAA fan and loves watching his dad, with David telling RSVP Magazine last year: "He’s gone mad for sport at the moment. He’s wearing jerseys and he loves it.
But he’s not too happy with me going out training because I’m going to be gone for a couple of hours. He loves coming along with me to watch the Fossa games at the weekend. He’s great craic.
" With a long-term partner, a son, a flourishing sports career and a steady day job, David feels as though everything felt into place for him in his personal and professional life. "Maybe it will all turn upside down at some stage ," he told us. "It’s fine, that’s just the way things have happened for me. Things fell into place nicely.
I’m far from perfect, let that be known. I enjoy life and I feel like I’ve a great life. I’m very lucky with the people I have around me.
"David made his senior debut during the 2018 National Football League following by the Munster Senior Football Championship later that summer. He regularly plays in the corner forward or full forward position. His performances earned him his first Munster medal and his first All-Star. He was also named as GAA/GPA Young Footballer of the Year.
He is a two-time Senior Football All-Ireland winner, a six-time GAA/GPA All-Star and has won the GAA/GPA Footballer of the Year a record three times.
