RTE’s new director general Kevin Bakhurst will contact Ryan Tubridy next week to discuss his future with the scandal-hit broadcaster.
The new station chief, who stood down RTE’s executive board on Monday, said emails he’s received show public opinion is split on whether Mr Tubridy should return.“But in the end I’ve got to make the right, fair and correct decision I think, for audiences, for RTE and for Ryan, and I want to treat Ryan fairly.
“But also, as I said, I want to talk to staff and I’ve already started doing that, and people who work in radio, and have worked with Ryan and other people who work in radio, and the leadership team.” Meanwhile it’s emerged RTE issued a memo to its stars in the wake of Marty Morrissey’s car statement asking them if they had anything to declare.
