Detectives have described the evidence found near Betsy Arakawa's body as "significant" and "of concern". The shock discovery was made when Oscar-winning legend Gene Hackman, aged 95, and his 65 year old wife Betsy were found dead at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on Wednesday, February 26.
Santa Fe Sheriff Adan Mendoza reportedly regards these pills as "significant evidence" which raises concerns. He is believed to have called the medicine "very important evidence", acknowledging they've been sent off for a medical investigator's scrutiny. The sheriff has shed light on the ongoing investigation into the mysterious deaths of a couple, revealing that autopsies have been carried out. He disclosed: "An autopsy was performed. Initial findings noted: no external trauma to either individual, the manner and cause of death has not been determined. Official results of the autopsy and toxicology reports are pending.
In a further development, authorities are keen to interview Gene's three children as part of their efforts to trace his last known activities before the tragic incident. Officials have confirmed they are in talks with "family members" to reconstruct the final days of Gene and his wife Betsy, who were discovered deceased in different rooms of their New Mexico residence earlier in the week.
