Tuesday’s Primary Election features several key races locally and statewide.
The Democratic primary for Florida Governor features a closely watched race between Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist. The winner will face incumbent Governor Ron DeSantis in November.
Jacksonville voters will choose from a field of five candidates running in a special election for Sheriff. Duval voters will also decide whether to support or reject a property tax millage increase to fund teacher salaries and other operational expenses. Sunday was the largest turnout day for in-person voting in Duval County. More than 88-hundred ballots were cast on the last day of early voting - and overall - turnout is 15%. Democrats are outpacing Republicans, 49 to 40% in overall turnout. 9% of the ballots cast were No Party Affiliation.
St. Johns County’s last day of early voting on Saturday was the highest single day for turnout. Overall, just under 15,000 ballots were cast in early voting.
