Police believe the kids were working for someone older.
Detroit Police caught the kids at the Jefferson North Plant storage lot where they were allegedly targeting Dodge Hellcat Chargers and Challengers to steal.
Detroit Police Lt. Clive Stewart told Fox 2 that he believes the kids are working for someone older that is convincing the children to commit carjackings because the legal ramifications will be less severe on children their age. Stewart also said in his years of police work, an 11-year-old is the youngest he’s ever seen that was involved in a carjacking.
The identities of the children involved have not been released and formal charges have also not been announced.
