The daughter of the late Christy Dignam has revealed she has got a tattoo to honour the Aslan star ahead of his first anniversary on Thursday. Kiera Dignam opened up about the loss of her father Christy, who died on June 13 last year after a ten year battle with a rare blood cancer.
“I actually stumbled across the card because I had just put it away. And I stumbled across this just about two days after the funeral. I found that…I know that was not a fun day. And obviously it was a rough week anyway, but when I found it, it was just ‘oh my god’. But I kept the card with me and I kind of thought you know, obviously I like a tattoo, so I kind of thought obviously if I was to ever lose it, at least I have it on my arm now.
“I think it's the realisation that he's actually gone and it's running out of like from tomorrow. I'm now running out of ‘this time last year’ because after tomorrow, this time last year, he wasn't here. And that's rough.”“I really struggle with hearing his voice or an interview and of course he was so well loved, and people want to share a lot about him and that's lovely but there are some days I just can't hear it.
“That was something that happened in the background. It was irrelevant to anybody else. But when we announced as a family we just wanted to have a night for my dad, didn’t say anybody would or wouldn’t be there and then there was a statement that they wouldn’t be there, not by me and then I just got attacked.
“And I didn't feel I had to answer to anybody for that. But I felt I needed to put a stop to sometime because as I said I was grieving. I have three children who are looking at me upset, who are also grieving the grandad who there were extremely close to and I'm getting really bad feedback.
