Buckingham Palace has confirmed that King Charles was briefly hospitalised due to temporary side effects from his cancer treatment, with his recovery progressing well despite postponing engagements as a precaution.
Buckingham Palace has given an update on Britain's King Charles' health after he was temporarily admitted to hospital amid his cancer treatment. The monarch was forced to cancel his public engagements yesterday afternoon as well as today after he experienced side effects during his cancer treatment.
What did the statement say? A statement from Buckingham Palace said: "Following scheduled and ongoing medical treatment for cancer this morning, The King experienced temporary side effects that required a short period of observation in hospital. His Majesty's afternoon engagements were therefore postponed.
The statement from Buckingham Palace at the time read: "During The King's recent hospital procedure for benign prostate enlargement, a separate issue of concern was noted. Subsequent diagnostic tests have identified a form of cancer. What has King Charles said about his cancer? Following the announcement that he'd been diagnosed with a form of cancer, the King released a statement in which he thanked the public for their support. "I would like to express my most heartfelt thanks for the many messages of support and good wishes I have received in recent days. As all those who have been affected by cancer will know, such kind thoughts are the greatest comfort and encouragement," he said.
When he returned to public-facing work duties, Palace sources stressed that Charles' work commitments would depend on ongoing guidance from his medical team. It is understood that any engagements are managed on a case by case basis and "remain subject to medical advice".
