King Charles became the first British monarch to address the French Senate on Thursday as he continued his visit to the nation alongside Queen Camilla.
King Charles received a standing ovation as he made a historic speech in Paris marking the first time a British monarch spoke from the French Senate chambers.
“Quite simply, the United Kingdom will always be one of France’s closest allies and best friends,” he said according to the Mirror, as he beamed and added that the UK and France's potential is "limitless." The monarch also joked "may the best man win" between the French and English, Welsh and Scottish national teams competing in the Rugby World Cup which is being hosted in France.
