Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that Tottenham and Chelsea will both benefit from a "massive advantage" this season by not playing in Europe.
His side were unable to beat Chelsea on the opening day and face Tottenham this Saturday after only playing in Europe once so far, but the Reds boss insists that the two London "heavyweights" will enjoy their less strenuous schedules this season. "Chelsea and Tottenham have no European football," Klopp explained ahead of Saturday's trip to face Ange Postecoglou's Spurs.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino agrees with Klopp, saying last week amid the Blues' injury crisis: "With the circumstances, I think it's better for us [not to be in Europe] because we have 11 or 12 injured players. I think it's important now that we can recover and be more competitive."But for Chelsea it's important to be involved in European competition, but that is not in my hands now. That is the reality.
