Bryant had some success in his Rockies’ debut, walking in his first at-bat in the first inning against Walker Buehler and then doubling off the right-hander with a line drive over center fielder Cody Bellinger’s head in the fifth.
“I was hearing from the guys in the dugout that was maybe trying a different game plan, throwing a lot of sinkers and changeups to righties,” Bryant said. “That was a changeup that was middle-in and down. It’s good to get the first hit out of the way and get going.” Bryant, who said a major reason he signed a seven-year deal with Colorado was because he believes in the direction of the franchise, said there were “a lot of positives” from the 5-3 loss.Colorado has 18 games remaining against the Dodgers in 2022, including a couple more this weekend to round out the three-game series.

Kyle Freeland battled through the first three frames, keeping the Dodgers scoreless But the wheels came off in the fourth, when Freeland recorded two outs before being pulled and eventually pegged for five earned runs.Shortstop José Iglesias had an RBI single in his first at-bat, and finished 1 for 4.
