In an interview with RTE, the chief executive of Tusla says the agency had no cause for concern about missing child Kyran Durnin because it received no referrals about him between 2022 and 2024
The head of Tusla says the agency had no cause for concern over missing child Kyran Durnin because it received no referrals about him between 2022 and 2024.
“Over 2021 and 2022, significant efforts would have been made by Tusla's child welfare services to provide further supports to Kyran and his family. Ms Duggan explained that after 2022, Tusla received no referrals from the school or anyone else in relation to Kyran’s attendance or any matters of concern. After the agency became aware of new information in April of this year, Tusla had engagement with the family, she confirmed.
"In general, in wider circumstances where we would have a concern or if we couldn't locate a child, we would report that to An Garda Síochána. When asked about reports that another child reported to Tusla in July 2022 claiming to be Kyran Durnin, she said: “I saw that speculation in the media. When our review is published, obviously there will be reference to any engagement that we had with Kyran, with his family or with other members of his family, but at the moment I can’t confirm the details around that because it’s a live Garda investigation.
