Labour has a 99 per cent chance of winning the general election, polling expert John Curtice has said.
The professor of politics at Strathclyde University said that "it’s clearly a very small chance that the Tories are going to be in government after the autumn”. Following a speech at the university in Glasgow he said that the Tories were unlikely to manage a comeback even if the election is held in January next year.
He said Labour was more likely to lead a minority government if no party wins a majority of seats because "the Conservatives have no friends in the House of Commons". The latest poll showed that the Tories are just on 24 per cent, a whole 20 points behind Labour. This is the worst that the party has done since Liz Truss's disastrous mini-budget in 2022.He said: "It’s clearly a very small chance that the Tories are going to be in government after the autumn.
