Arguably, the market town is one of the most popular places to visit in the Lake District and it's easy to see why.

There's something about the buzz of Keswick that is hard to describe, but I wouldn't be much of a writer if I didn't at least give it a go.

You can choose from Keswick Leisure Centre, Otley Road, Bell Close, Central Long and Lakeside these start from about £1 and increase the longer you want to stay. You'll also find parking at the rugby club and some on-street parking, though this is often scarce. Another amazing thing about Keswick is that it basically has its own lake, right by the town centre. Even better, as you walk down to Derwentwater you pass through Hope Park. Located between the town centre and Derwentwater it is a favourite stopping off place whilst walking to the lake. Hope Park has attractive landscaped gardens with a stream and woodland walk, set in magnificent scenery overlooking the fells.

The Theatre by the Lake is Britain’s most remote-producing theatre. The theatre produces its own productions of classic, modern and new plays throughout the year, which are recognised nationally for their artistic merit, and also host a wide variety of touring theatre and music performances. I have, however, been on the Keswick launch that takes you around all the different stops on the lake. A cruise on Derwentwater is a very special way of discovering the Northern Lake District.

Working closely with small-batch British distillers, they are passionate about local ingredients and traditional methods, sustainability and quality. Elizabeth Gibson is the manager of the store and spoke to CumbriaLive about what is has to offer and the attraction to opening a store in Keswick. She said: "We couldn't believe it. You see the area on pictures and wonder if it'll be that breathtaking in person and it really is. We had a lovely walk down by the lake and enjoyed cake and tea in one of the local cafes.Daisy Smith comes to the area every year because it's where she and her partner had their first date. Daisy said her and James met online and decided to do something crazy and come to the Lake District for their first date.
