With Christmas less than three weeks away, more people are coming down with common colds and illnesses as temperatures plunge and winter starts to bite.
The latest government figures show that Lower Penwortham South has the county's highest infection rate at 171.5. Skelmersdale West has the second highest rate at 140.5 while Longton & Walmer Bridge is in third at 132.2.It comes as a leading health expert says a lack of mixing due to the Covid-19 pandemic could be behind a drop in immunity to infections such as Strep A.
