The old champagne bottle in the elbow injury strikes again.
“Some guys were coming back behind me and the bottle just happened to kind of hit the back inside part of my elbow as the people were passing by,” McCullers said Friday. “It wasn’t like we were getting wild. I was standing there, he was walking by and just happened to hit me in the right spot.”McCullers said he threw a 35-pitch bullpen session in Houston before the team left for New York and will be ready for Game 4 on Sunday. He said the decision to give him the extra rest was precautionary.
Javier last pitched on Oct. 11, when he allowed one earned run over 1 1/3 innings in relief in the Astros’ ALDS opener against the Mariners. The right-hander’s last start came 10 days earlier. But Baker indicated there aren’t concerns about Javier’s relative inactivity.
