The talented footballer shared which rule she would change within the Ladies Gaelic Football Association and how her love for the sport didn’t develop until her teen years
The Laois footballer said it’s the one rule within the Ladies Gaelic Football Association that she would like to see changed.
My standout moment A standout moment for me was probably getting called into the Laois panel when I was 16 in my first year of minor football. My Dad rang me after school to say the Laois manager at the time had contacted him and I couldn’t believe it. I was away from the panel for a few years then in my early twenties and missed being a part of the panel for the Intermediate All-Ireland win in 2022. I was there in the crowd and was very proud to be a Laois woman that day.
My favourite place to play Definitely O’Moore Park. Asides from the quality of the pitch it just evokes such a feeling of pride when you play on your home county grounds. It wasn’t always available to us which I think makes it more meaningful when we do play on it now. It shows how far ladies football has come along in Laois.
People who inspired my playing career As a child I wasn’t hugely interested in playing football, I just went to training so that I could see my friends. It wasn’t until I went to secondary school in Scoil Criost Rí in Portlaoise that I really fell in with the sport. I was very fortunate to be part of a successful underage club team, St. Conleths, as well as successful school teams. My coaches at this stage of my football career provided huge inspiration for me.
