Healthcare regulator raised concern over nursing homes passing on costs in extra resident charges
Róisín Ingle: I’ve been thinking about all the women like Sinéad O’Connor who wouldn’t get back in their boxes
The 49 residents currently living in the home, their families and staff were informed of the closure on Wednesday. Tadhg Daly, chief executive of NHI, said the representative body had been consistently warning of the pressures facing the sector.“In the past three years, 36 private and voluntary nursing homes have been forced to close, leaving over 1,200 of our most vulnerable people having to go through the very upsetting experience of being uprooted from their home and friends,” he said.
The State’s healthcare regulator has privately raised issues around the Fair Deal scheme with Department of Health officials.
