The eclipse will happen just as the moon is setting tomorrow morning. It’s not scheduled to happen again until New Year’s Eve in 2028
The last total eclipse of the moon for almost four years will be visible for early risers on Friday morning.
A total eclipse is when the Moon enters the Earth’s shadow and turns a reddish colour - the colour change is also referred to as a ‘Blood Moon’. .When is the total eclipse happening? People who want to catch the total eclipse will have to get up early as it is set to take place before 7am on Friday morning. The subtle change will begin at about 4am and the full effect will be noticeable from 5am to about 6.30am.
How long will the total eclipse last? Viewers will see a partial eclipse from about 5am, with the total eclipse taking place for a moment at about 6.26am. Who can see the total eclipse? Anyone in Ireland with a view of the moon and an alarm clock should be able to see the total eclipse, however viewing conditions are much more favourable on clear days. However even if there is cloud or rain in your area, you still have a chance of catching the eclipse with patience and perseverance.
