The Taoiseach said that Pfizer are increasingly confident of releasing a vaccine
Taoiseach Micheál Martin has suggested that the oldest and most vulnerable in Irish society will be prioritised if a Covid-19 vaccine becomes available.
The Fianna Fáil leader admitted it will take “an enormous manufacturing effort globally” to make sure enough doses of the virus can be produced for people in Ireland and all over the world. He acknowledged that a public debate will need to take place around how best to distribute any vaccine. Elsewhere, Mr Martin defended the Government’s decision to keep schools open even as Ireland adopts tough new restrictions to combat the spread of the virus.
