The popular stand-up comedian from Cork talks about how walking away from breakfast radio worked in her favour as she now has creative control over her popular podcast
The much loved comedian previously hosted breakfast on Cork’s Red FM with Ciara Revins and Rob Heffernan, but decided to leave when Rob was dropped from the show.
“I think it’s only now that I’m realising that I wasn’t necessarily suited to radio – some soundbites, a quick few songs and some Cork news,” she told RSVP Live. She said: “We’re platonic friends, a girl and a boy, with a totally different set of circumstances, two totally different backgrounds but one shared experience and quite similar thoughts. It shouldn’t work, but it does.
She is now beginning to notice a benefit to her career, where listeners of her podcast are now becoming fans of her comedy and vice versa.“I think there is a good bit of that benefit going on, but I’m not sure how well I’d get on doing a podcast with another stand-up. Some of them are excellent, but I think it can become like a mini version of your set if two people are just telling jokes to each other,” she said.
