Liam Lawson insists that he is ‘focused’ on Super Formula, despite the possibility of replacing Nyck de Vries at AlphaTauri – which was taken by Daniel Ricciardo.Nyck de Vries had been dropped from his AlphaTauri seat after only 10 races. The Dutchman failed to impress Red Bull Advisor Helmut Marko, leading to the 28-year-old’s exit.. The Australian driver had a previous stint with the Faenza team – back when they were Toro Rosso.
“But this [Super Formula] is what I am focused on. Any shot I have at Formula 1 rides on how I do here. So I have to complete the year in the best way possible, and try to win this championship, which is what will give me the chance. The New Zealand driver was also asked for his thoughts on the decision to being Ricciardo back. However, the 21-year-old insisted that he is only focused on himself in Super Formula. He also says that he doesn’t care what Formula 1 seat he gets.“I am just focused on this, it’s what [Red Bull] has told me to focus on as well. The expectation is for me to go and win the championship, and then we’ll discuss it.
