A new Horse Racing Ireland initiative is set to be brought in next year
Leading horse racing owner Simon Munir has slammed a new Horse Racing Ireland initiative that is set to be brought in next year.
It was reported earlier this week that the four biggest National Hunt trainers - Willie Mullins, Gordon Elliott, Henry de Bromhead and Gavin Cromwell - were considering legal action over the new initiative. All four trainers would be excluded from having runners in the 60 races. He wrote on X: "The HRI initiative to exclude certain trainers from races not only discriminates against trainers but owners too! What an ill thought out poor initiative.
"Sport is all about competition not penalising success and creating sub-standard races by excluding winners."
