Lean and diabetic patient groups for metabolic-associated fatty liver disease have a higher risk of all-cause and disease-specific mortality than the overweight/obese group, finds a study published in BMCMedicine.

Height, weight, and WC were measured and evaluated by healthcare professionals during nationally mandated health screenings. BMI was calculated as the participant’s weight in kilograms divided by their height in meters squared. Blood specimens were obtained from each participant after an overnight fast.
