Ireland striker Leanne Kiernan marked her return from injury with a goal in Liverpool's win over West Ham. She believes Liverpool can finish in the top four this season.
Ireland striker Leanne Kiernan hailed her “dream” St Patrick’s Day performance against West Ham on Sunday. The Cavan native marked her first start since her return from injury with the opening goal in a 3-1 win over the Hammers. The win means Liverpool remain level on points with fourth-placed Manchester United in the WSL , with six games remaining. Kiernan said of her first-half strike “It's an ideal weekend on Paddy's weekend too! I can't complain at all.
“I worked for the last five months to get back into the starting XI. It's been amazing, I've really enjoyed it. My family was up in the crowd there, so it was really nice to celebrate with them. “I dreamt of a start like this, so I'll take it for sure. It's nice playing my old club and getting the win.” Kiernan believes Liverpool can pip United to a top-four finish this season. “We want to compete with these teams and I don't see why not. “We've got to just keep our heads down, keep doing everything we can off the pitch, on the pitch and on the training pitch. I don't see why not,” she told the official Liverpool website
