'On what planet did it make sense to concentrate all prospective new drivers from the (much) bigger town of Blackburn to Darwen?'
That's what I imagine readers will point out upon seeing the latest motoring gripe I have. But allow me to explain, because there's a lot more to this touchy subject than meets the eye.
The roundabout at Junction 4 is a nightmare at the best of times; mostly due to the shocking state of traffic management on the adjoining A666. It's not unusual to see frustrated motorists who are fed up of waiting then sneaking onto the roundabout without correctly giving way. What that means is that Lower Darwen and the motorway roundabout are always inundated with learners. Granted, everyone has to learn somewhere, but on what planet did it make sense to concentrate all prospective new drivers from the bigger town of Blackburn to Darwen?
