Leaving Cert 2020 start date set as exams to take place on weekends and evenings
Students who wish to sit their traditional Leaving Cert exam papers will have to do so in the evenings and weekends it has been confirmed.Minister Foley said it would not be feasible or practical at this stage to conduct examinations in oral or practical components, or to try to complete unfinished coursework.
After announcing that the Leaving Certificate had been cancelled due to Covid-19 students will now get their results in the form of a new calculated grades system. Students sitting the written exams who opted to receive Calculated Grades will be awarded with the higher subject grade achieved between the Calculated Grade and the written examination.
The State Examinations Commission has said it is working with the department on arrangements for the exams and will offer more detail in the coming weeks.
