There weren't huge crowds that's for sure!

England played their first match of the World Cup facing off against Iran during a thrilling match which saw the opponents get thrashed 6-2. Fans were out in droves during the game which kicked off at the slightly unusual time of 1pm.

, setting up the big televisions and pouring the pints as fans watch to see if England bring it home in the 2022 competition. One venue, a nightclub in the city centre, has transformed itself during the day to create a fan zone.Pryzm nightclub, near the Merrion Centre has swapped out the pumping tunes and sticky floors for tables, chairs and lots of noisemakers and flags.

The match began with a controversial missed penalty and then the Iranian goalkeeper suffered a potential concussion but continued play. Then England got into the swing of things and before the first half was over, they has scored three goals to the opponent's none. We spoke to a few people at the event, one group of lads, who were very excited, said: "Why is it so dead in here? It's clearly coming home, is everywhere like this?"
