Leeds United have informed the police about a racist social media comment
Leeds United have released a club statement to condemn a racist comment directed at forward Wilfried Gnonto on social media over the last few days. Gnonto has been in the news over after handing in a written transfer request as he looks to pursue opportunities away from Elland Road before the summer transfer window comes to an end.
The club have opened up an investigation into the abuse, while they have also informed the police about the incident online. In a statement released on the club website, United have taken the opportunity to underline their intention to support Gnonto following such discrimination. “The club will support Willy and anyone else connected to our club who experiences racism or any form of discrimination.”
