Leicester City owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha has spoken with the club's players after a video from their trip to Copenhagen over the weekend leaked on social media
Leicester City's players have been given a dressing down by the club's owner after he was left unimpressed by their antics at a Christmas party in Copenhagen. Footage of the Premier League strugglers partying in a nightclub in Denmark just hours after their defeat to Chelsea on Saturday surfaced online earlier this week.
In the clip, players were seen with a sign which read, “Enzo I miss you”, seemingly referencing their former head coach, Enzo Maresca. Steve Cooper - Maresca's successor - was sacked on Sunday after just 12 matches - and Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha, known as "Top", accused Leicester 's players of letting him down during a private meeting, according to a new report. The Telegraph have revealed some of the details of said meeting, where Leicester's owner also expressed his unhappiness at the clip that went viral from Copenhagen. Srivaddhanaprabha is said to feel that the incident does not reflect kindly on Leicester and their reputation as a family club. The trip was authorised by the club and Cooper prior to his dismissal. The decision to part company with Cooper is understood to have been made solely by Srivaddhanaprabha, who is now overseeing the search for a new head coach. Former Manchester United assistant Ruud van Nistelrooy has emerged as a contender for the role in recent days and, as of Wednesday night, is now the odds-on favourite to land the job.The report also outlines that the players in the meeting were informed that the club's next head coach was likely to be an unattached candidate rather than somebody who would command a compensation fee. Graham Potter and David Moyes, who left West Ham at the end of last season, are not believed to be in the running for the position, though. Leicester are currently 16th in the Premier League table, a point above the relegation zone. They won just two of their 12 league matches under Cooper, though, and face a tricky trip to Brentford in their next fixture on Saturday.
