More than £300,000 has been pledged to help make the traveller site at Leighton Street fit for purpose prestoncouncil
The funding will help to
John Gavin, Leighton Street Co-operative Site Manager said: “The funding to help improve the infrastructure on the site will mean a great deal to the residents as they will have more control of their monthly outgoings, helping them to budget more easily and improving the standard of living for everyone.”
“This funding means that the council can now undertake, on the cooperative’s behalf, the enabling works to upgrade the site’s infrastructure, including the refurbishment of the utility blocks and new electricity meters which will provide residents greater control, flexibility, and reduce costs on their outgoing energy bills.”The funding comes from the Department of Levelling Up Housing and Communities’ Traveller Site Fund.
