The Cavan held a three-shot lead heading into the final round of the Aramco Team Series event at Hemel Hempstead and started fast picking up two birdies early doors
Practice paid off for Leona Maguire as she finished off her win at the Aramco Team Series Ladies European Tour event in London in remarkable fashion.
“It’s one of those where you practice, practice, practice and it’s nice to be able to pull it off when you really need to. It almost felt like matchplay a little bit today at time with Georgia, at the same time, I knew there were other girls making a move. A bogey was followed by a costly double on 6 to leave her on -7. Another dropped shot followed on 8 as the Ballyconnell native headed to the turn in +2 for her opening nine.
With the trophy within her grasp, Lee faltered, paving the way for Maria Hernandez to reach the summit on -7. The win was extra special for Maguire as she was joined by her twin sister Lisa after making the putt on the final hole of play. Both Maguire twins took part in a champagne celebration, but the festivities will begin in style when they return to Ballyconnell tomorrow.
