Maguire is six shots off leader Diksha Dagar, with Beth Coulter and Kate Lanigan the best of the other Irish stars.
Leona Maguire is six shots off the lead after the opening round of the KPMG Irish Open at Dromoland Castle.
Beginning on the back nine in a marquee grouping with local hero Áine Donegan and last year's champion Klara Spilkova, the 28-year-old couldn't get going and made Par on the first seven holes. A run of three Birdies on the spin got Maguire to two-under before a dropped shot on the penultimate hole saw her post a respectable score of 71.
