Ireland defender Liam Scales will return to European football at the highest level later this month.
Liam Scales is hopeful that Celtic can progress in this season’s Champions League - after the Bhoys secured a ‘good draw’ in the new so-called ‘Swiss model’ format. The Bhoys have been drawn against Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig, Atalanta, Club Bruges, Young Boys, Dinamo Zagreb, Slovan Bratislava and Aston Villa under the new structure.
“It was a good draw. On paper it is a good draw but every team you play against will be good and will have a lot of quality,” he said. We do have a good chance but it’s down to us.” Celtic kick off their campaign at home to Slovan Bratislava on September 18, before travelling to Borussia Dortmund on October 1.They are away to Atalanta , Dinamo Zagreb and Aston Villa . In last season’s Champions League they finished bottom of their group with just four points - from a win at home to Feyenoord and a 2-2 draw against Atletico Madrid.
