Record View says Rishi Sunak must use this report to bury Boris Johnson and ensure his Tory career is over forever
Voters did not need a Westminster committee to tell them Boris Johnson is a liar and a charlatan. He was fired from one of his first jobs in journalism after fabricating a quote.
He is an appalling individual. Following a year-long investigation, the Commons’ Privileges Committee concluded he had misled Parliament over lockdown parties in Downing Street. This was “all the more serious” because he was the most senior member of the government. The report also found he had “personal knowledge” of breaches of the Covid rules and guidance in No10.
US Republicans had the same opportunity to end Trump’s political career after the January 6 terror attack on Capitol Hill.
