Lidl and Aldi Ireland Christmas hours warning as stores to close for three days
Ireland Latest News,Ireland Headlines

Lidl and Aldi have announced they will close for three days over Christmas, however they plan on extending opening hours in the lead-up to the big day. It comes as seasonal offers are currently running - including a 3 for €10 tubs deal.

Christmas is rapidly approaching - and while it may feel like there's still plenty of time left, the reality is that there's only six weekends left before the big day. If you're not already ticking off your festive checklist, now would be a good time to get organised.

Food and drink are at the heart of many celebrations, and whether your hosting or contributing, supermarkets play a key role in getting stocked up. Over the coming weeks, shops across Ireland will be bustling with shoppers checking off their Christmas lists. Even the most organised of households will probably need to nip out to pick up some last-minute supplies. With this in mind, Lidl and Aldi have issued an early warning to customers about their opening hours over the Christmas season. Both supermarkets have confirmed that they will close for three days over the festive period - for Christmas Day, St Stephen's Day and New Year's Day. Last year, Aldi explained its reason for these changes with Managing Director of Buying and Services Colin Breslin saying: “By extending our opening hours in the run up to Christmas, we can ensure that our customers have time to stock up on everything they need for an amazing Christmas. We also would like to acknowledge and thank our dedicated colleagues who consistently deliver an excellent shopping experience to members of their local communities every day, and even more so during the busy Christmas period. To allow everyone to have a well-earned break, we will be maintaining our tradition of keeping our stores closed on St Stephen’s Day.” Customers are also encouraged to make note of special promotions, which will run in the lead-up to Christmas. Lidl is currently offering three tubs of chocolates for €10 on its Lidl Plus app until this Saturday, November 16. This offer includes Roses, Celebrations, Heroes and Quality Street and is limited to three tubs per customer. Meanwhile, Aldi's Big Toy Event has something for everyone, including XL Squishees for €24.99.Join the Irish Mirror’s breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive breaking news and the latest headlines direct to your phone.
