They can get to the city centre in no time
Tucked away in the heart of Carlton, neighbours have told of their "perfect" life living next to a train station. Speaking from their homes equipped with double-glazed windows to cancel the noise, people said there is "no need for a car when you live down here".
A journey to the city centre would take them around 26 minutes - but families on Midland Road said they just jump on a train to get into the city in "no time". Sonia Beasley, 66, said she is now thinking about getting a rail card so she can go on regular 'city breaks'.She added: "We have got double glazed windows so the noise is not a problem anymore. Plus, you just get used to the noise."You get into the city in no time.
"You do not need to change trains and the journey to the city takes about six minutes. I think it is just perfect and I do not see any reason for leaving the area really." "It has never woken me up. I only notice it during the day sometimes, but it is not bothering me at all."
