A video depicting a bomb explosion outside a Limerick residence raises alarm as a violent feud intensifies. Gardaí increase patrols and investigate the incident, emphasizing the need for public information to curb further violence.

A chilling video circulating on social media has sparked serious concern among Gardaí as a violent feud between rival groups escalates in Limerick city. The footage, which appears to have been captured in the early hours of last Sunday, shows a male igniting a fuse and tossing a bomb over a wall into the backyard of a house on Hyde Road, Ballinacurra Weston.

The explosion, which occurs mere seconds after an individual on what appears to be an electric bicycle or motorized scooter moves away from the scene, creates a deafening bang and blinding flash.Garda sources have expressed deep worry over the intensification of violence, leading to an increase in armed Garda patrols in volatile areas of the city. While thankfully no one was injured in this latest attack, the ongoing feud has resulted in numerous incidents of shootings, stabbings, and attacks involving car bombs and petrol bombs over the past year and a half, resulting in several individuals facing court charges. Gardaí have confirmed that their “enquiries are ongoing” into the bomb blast.Chief Superintendent Derek Smart, Limerick’s top Garda, had previously voiced concern that children could be injured or worse in the escalating violence. Before Sunday’s attack, Chief Smart stated that the previous assaults were “confined between two groupings of peoples” and that they were “not random.” He emphasized that the attacks were “very targeted” and that “there has been a number of children present in all of these attacks.” Gardaí have been granted search warrants by Limerick District Court in recent weeks and months, enabling them to raid properties throughout the city. These raids have yielded significant seizures, including drugs, weapons, and cash. Appealing for public assistance, Chief Smart urged anyone with information, regardless of how seemingly insignificant, to come forward. He stressed that information can be provided confidentially through dedicated Garda lines or by writing to them, emphasizing that even small details can contribute to a larger picture that can help hold perpetrators accountable
