Limerick hurling star Gearóid Hegarty has spoken out about how unfounded rumours really affected his family.
Now, the hurler has said this rumour really affected his family, particularly his mother and grandmother.“First thing, there was absolutely nothing to it. There was no truth to any of the rumours,” he told the Irish Independent. “ O’Donovan was giving me an awful ear’s abuse. I had to hear about it for a good few training sessions after that, but I don’t know where it came from. I don’t know what happened."
"It didn’t necessarily affect me too much, but the thing that was difficult was everybody I met wanted to talk to me about it. Obviously, you have to tell everybody it’s not true, it’s false."
