All-Ireland winner Kyle Hayes, convicted of violent disorder and dangerous driving, awaits sentencing. His appeal against the dangerous driving conviction will be heard before Cork Circuit Criminal Court.
Kyle Hayes , a renowned Limerick hurler and All-Ireland winner, faces a potential prison sentence following his conviction for violent disorder. In March of last year, the 26-year-old received a two-year suspended sentence for engaging in violent disorder at the Icon nightclub in Limerick City on October 28th, 2019. However, his legal troubles escalated last September when he was convicted of dangerous driving at Mallow District Court.
The court heard that Hayes had been driving at 150km/h in a 100km/h zone near Mallow on July 14th. Hayes is currently appealing this dangerous driving conviction, which is scheduled to be heard before Cork Circuit Criminal Court. Hayes appeared before Limerick Circuit Criminal Court on Monday for the re-entry of his suspended sentence. Brian McInerney SC, representing Hayes, informed the court that the matter could not proceed as his client is appealing the dangerous driving conviction, a prerequisite for addressing the suspended sentence. State solicitor Padraig Mawe confirmed his agreement with the adjournment, pending the outcome of Hayes's appeal.
