'It will give the League a bit more emphasis, if you win the League and you're guaranteed to be in the knockout stages'
Limerick defender Dan Morrissey has backed placing a bigger incentive on the League by giving the winners a berth in the All-Ireland series.
“It will give the League a bit more emphasis, if you win the League and you're guaranteed to be in the knockout stages,” he said. “And I think in fairness to the Joe McDonagh teams, I think if you don't win the Joe McDonagh, potentially you don't deserve to go through to the knock-out stage. It would have eased much of the pressure on them if the League title granted them a get-out-of-jail-free card when their season was in jeopardy.
“So to be honest, there might be a bit of talk about it at the start of the year and then from our perspective it gets boxed off. Hopefully the next time we'll be talking about it then we'll have done the five-in-a-row.”
